What is Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW)?

ERW is a technique that involves spreading alkaline silicate mineral powder over large areas of land in order to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This is done through a chemical reaction that occurs when the minerals weather in contact with water and its cations bind carbon dioxide. You can read more about ERW and our technical procedures here

Apart from being highly effective at removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, scientists have shown that ERW brings a great range of co-benefits for the environment and farmers

  1. Increased crop yields through added nutrients and optimal soil pH
  2. Replenished, healthier soils through a constant influx of essential nutrients
  3. Crops that are more resilient to drought and pests
  4. Increased water retention capacity of soils
  5. Additional income for farmers from revenue-sharing
